Filming Blog for Music Video

Image
We started filming our music video on Nov. 22nd. This process took us only 1 day. Our original filming location was closed. Therefore, we had to find a new area last minute. This resulted in us having to make changes to our storyboard. Although our setting for our MV was supposed to be on a basketball court, we decided to scratch that idea. We changed that to Actor 1 sitting down and searching their bag, then leading to random people bullying Actor 1. We were also glad that this change didn't affect the outcome of our MV. Actor 1 and 2 meet at the end to hug. We also did not have a bridge to stand in front of, so Actor 1 ended up standing in front of a river. We figured that this had the same effect of others wanting to drown themselves in a body of water. Overall, we spent about 2-3 hours filming. We also had to do numerous takes for it to be as perfect as it can. Even though there were some challenges when filming, because we didn't have our original setting like we were supp...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

In this music video, we will be portraying a message about how suicide and other harmful things to yourself can be prevented. This stems from people getting bullied, being left out, or physical & emotional abuse. In this circumstance, we will be focusing on someone who is going through a rough patch in their life, and how it ultimately changes for the better. Hip hop music generally focuses on the teen bracket, and most people starting from ages of adolescence to their teen years experience suicidal thoughts and acts of self harm. The use of Mis En Scene plays an important role in these types of music videos, because it portrays the theme of the video, coinciding with its lyrics. The lyrics display a strong message to the audience and urges a call to action. Personal lyrics are also a great thing to have for the attempts of making a change. It also represents the overall setting and context of the music video. Props and camera shots help add to the narrative of the music video and ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
Intro: Music Video Project   In this music video project, I will be working three people; Nishayla Hamilton, Idline Altema and Ciaya Cook. I picked these people because they have the same media class with me, just different periods. With this choice, there is alignation and organization in my group for this project. It is important for us to put in the same amount of efforts into this project. Our relationship with each other can grow throughout us doing this music video as well.  I chose to work with these people because they are some of the most hardworking people I know. Also, they love to brainstorm ideas, and I feel like as a whole we can get this music video done smoothly. We ultimately felt that we would work the best together. Our minds think alike and we share lots of things in common. I feel like this music video couldn't be done with any other group. We decided to chose the song 1-800-273-8255 By Logic ft. Alessia Cara & Khalid. It took us a while to pick a song...

CLOROX Wipes Commercial (FINISHED)

Image
This commercial was the first filming project i've worked on. When I watch the final product, I see many things I need to work on. I need to work more on recording shots at a certain angle. Also, I need to work more on my editing skills. Although there are some areas where my skills need development, I believe to have improved a lot from when I started the beginning of this project. I have never recorded a film before and learning how to record was an experience that was needed. I have also never edited a film. I have discovered features in the software and apps that I haven't used before. I also never have applied a filter to a film. For the audio, I got it from Youtube and converted it to an MP3 file, in which I then uploaded it into my commercial. Ive also learned to trim, cut, and paste video/audio files. I didn't have a backup location as well. One thing I would do differently is have a better setup and a better storyboard for my commercial overall. Also, next time I w...

Editing Blog For My CLOROX Wipes Commercial

Image
Once I have compiled all of my takes into IMovie, I began my editing process of this commercial. I recorded all of my clips in landscape mode. I've done the necessary transitions so it doesn't look choppy. Although I struggled with this, I still figured out a way for it to work. I also had to edit the scenes down some so it overall could be 30 seconds or more. Like in the CLOROX commercials, I had to look for the suitable music to go with my commercial. I converted the music from Youtube to MP3, and I trimmed a section from it and put it in the commercial. Having music that corresponds with my commercial was very important. Then, I did the voiceovers for my actors, seeing as though I didn't film my voice while filming originally. Next, I also did zoom-ins on the product to emphasize my message. I had to make the jump cuts in the order of my storyboard as well. I also put filters on my commercial from the clips I filmed. I wanted to do this because it displays special effec...
